File: mc_ribs.jpg Artist: Mike Clifton (clifton@cse.ucsc.edu) Date Completed: April 19, 1995 Program Used: My own modeling/rendering/animation program, Mechanisto. Rendering Time: Around 10 minutes Comments: Well, each pair of ribs in this picture is a single sphere. My modeling program lets you deform objects in all kinds of ways, so I took a sphere, stretched it, tapered the ends, bent it into a horseshoe sort of shape, and applied some noise to make it not computer-perfect smooth. The vertebrae are cylinders that have also had various deformations applied. The bone in the background was made out of a few blobs and the ground is a height field. The textures are all procedural shaders in my renderer.
