Title: Still Life Author: Richard Rhodes, rorhodes@netcom.com Files: stillife.jpg stillife.txt Programs used: Pov-Ray, and Moray. Computer: 486-66 Rendering time: 15 hours Description: Most of the image was created with Pov-Ray, using primitive objects. I prefer the small code files possible when primitives are used. Moray was used for image mapping the world and the text, for sweeping the apple with stem, and modeling the fly. The world image was found on Compuserve. The oranges were constructed from a torus and sphere, and the stem from intersections of spheres. Bumps made a pretty tasty looking orange. The bowl was built from a torus and cylinder, and the knife from primitives scaled to match my kitchen knife. My color advisors were Julien (11 years) and Ruth. The cutting board type of wood is unknown, but we liked the tones. No insects were hurt or killed during this rendering.
