COMPOSE.TXT Hi ! Well, this is my first posting and it is needless to say that the whole thing has gotten me a little nervous. Tracing in the privacy of you own secluded room is one thing, but putting your images out for the whole world to see is scary..... I came up with the idea for composer2 for one simple reason, I have wanted to trace the two speakers in the scene for some time now and this gave me the chance!! The entire scene was composed with MORAY, the registered version. I used simple/standard objects, spheres, cylinders, cones and the same holds for textures (with some applied reflections). The speakers are Realistic super tweeters, and are 'pretty' accurate in scale. I used simple CSG ideas for the construction, basically all differences or unions. For example, the basic cylinder shape of the speaker is composed of a large cylinder minus a smaller cylinder for each section from the outside edge in. The center cone (I'm not sure what it is really called) is just three scaled cubes at 120 degrees to each other with a cone centered at their intersection. The andriod is taken from an example in The Waite Group's "Raytracing Worlds with POV-RAY". The differences are the addition of all ten digits on the hands, and proportional changes. The notes are very simple (as if that wasn't easy to see!). Just a sphere scaled to an thin ellipse with a cylinder for the staff. The flags are cones rotated by an arbitrary angle, and the whole thing is topped of with a small sphere to cap the cylinder end. Lastly, it took about 2.5 hrs to render on my 486 DX2 66. I used an antiailiasing value of 0.1 with r=4. Thanks to everyone on the POV team, I've been tracing for about a year and a half and still can't believe some of the aspects of this software!
