Date: 7/18/95 Made with: POV G.U.M Brickit (Really cool!!) Fractint POV-Shell Coments: When I saw this months topic (Gadgets) I was really stumped on what to do. Then I began to think about little gadgets you see on people's desks. You can find those kind of things at novlety shops like Spencers so I did a few items you might find in a novlety shop in your local mall. The actual gadget.inc object is one of those kinetic energy things where the two outside balls swing back and forth while the middle balls remain stationary. The l-lamp.inc object is your basic Lava Lamp (Just like the one on my computer desk). And, last but not least, what is a trip to Spencer's without looking through the Fractal posters. The objects were modeled using GUM and then edited in POVShell. The brick texture was taken from BRICKIT which can be found on the POV-CDROM. (As can my animation CROSS.FLI :-} ) I can't remember who made BRICKIT, I don't have the documentation with me, but thank you. It will be very usefull in the future. The Fractal poster was made with FRACTINT. I just used my favorite predefined fractal. Another gadget I wanted to make but did not have the programing skills to do, was to make was one of those boxes with a buch of pins in them. When you press something up against the pins (i.e. your face) the impression is left on the pins. If you carefully flip the box over you see your face in the pins. I was going to try and use a .RAW of a face and read in the of each point in a QBASIC program and have it output a pin for each point. If someone is ambitious enough I'm sure it would look cool.
