Tools competition. There's been lots of talk on the PovGui list about a modeller. I decided I couldn't wait, and made my own modeller. rh_robot.jpg was made using this modeller, and also shows what I'd ultimately like the modeller to do. Namely create its own images while I'm off skiing or doing something equally interesting. In other words, what we've got here is a robot hammering away at a keyboard, designing a picture of a robot hammering away at the keyb... You get the picture, I'm sure! Other items of interest? Well, there's a nicely panelled floor, a reasonably realistic looking keyboard spiral-cable, a dart-board with three almost invisible darts (I hate 640x480 resolution, don't you?), and an even nicer picture on the wall of the author. Overhead there are two fluorescent lights, casting soft shadows. The walls are a fair imitation of the walls I'm staring at right now. The note on the monitor says "Gone Fishin'", and is quite legible at reasonable resolutions, like 1024x768. The image took about 9 hours to trace on a 100MHz 486, contains three image maps, but even without these the code is quite bloated thanks to the floor, the robot, the keyboard and the cable - so excuses for not uploading the complete code, too.
