Scene: lahouse.jpg Author: Larry Anderson (landers1@csc.com) Tracer: Persistance of Vision Raytracer 2.2 (official version) Hardware: Pentium; 100 Mhz Rendering Time: 40 hrs. 23 mins. 44 secs. Image Maps: shrub01.gif for the lawn asphalt.gif for the roof concrete.gif for the slab under the house Tools: Paint Shop Pro 3 - TGA -> JPG - gamma correcting asphalt.gif to make it blacker This one went right down to the wire. I turned off the area lighting halfway through rendering so that it would finish in time for the contest deadline. I have been playing with POV for about 6 months now. This is my second major scene (The first wasn't very good) and my first contest entry. There is nothing fancy here. Most of it was composed with boxes and CSG. The scene is an idealized view of the back of my house. I say "idealized" because the reality is that the lawn is weedy with bare patches, the windows are smeared and dirty, and the deck is littered with broken lawn furniture and other junk - no major appliances though ;). I tried to make it as realistic as possible. I gave up on bushes and trees. They made the scene "look like a POV" as my daughter cautioned me. Any comments, critiques, or ideas on how to do thing better the next time are welcome. E-mail me at landers1@csc.com
