scene2.jpg ( by Jay Sprenkle ): ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is my entry for the october ray tracing contest. It is a little rough, this is my first entry and I only had a week or so to finish it. My apologies to the judges for rushing it in at the last moment How I did it: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- The water was created using a plane object with a normal texture to make it appear to have gentle waves. The rocky cliffs are a height field stolen from the pov sample trace files. The sky is a standard combination of textures from pov sample sources applied to a very large sphere. The building was created by hand using csg objects. If you're going to do this you might want to check out the "moray" editor. It is a wireframe editor that makes visualization of how the parts fit together much simpler. I did not use moray for this project but I have for others. The building uses a roughened texture to simulate stucco. It sort of worked but could be improved a lot. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- My name is Jay Sprenkle I am a programmer by trade and an artist by inclination.
